Description
How to use the Internet without being automatically monitored? How to circumvent network censorship setup by a school or a state? Tor is free software and an open network which answers some of these issues. By bouncing communications through a network of relays run by volunteers, it prevents somebody watching our Internet connection from learning which sites is visited, and the visited sites from learning our physical location. In the last years, Tor became a tool used daily by hundreds of thousands of people, some of them having their life at stake.
After presenting the Tor project and how the network works, we will take some time to see how it can be used to escape Internet monitoring and censorship. We will take some time to show the system limits, some on-going research and how to contribute to the project.
